My Name is Chris Meade, I make handmade cutlery and tools. The story of my business name CMcustomblades is a simple one. CM for Chris Meade, and custom blades because, well, a lot of my work is custom and if it has an edge I’ll try and make it!

My grandfather was a steel worker by trade, but also loved working with wood, he is the reason I love working with my hands. I loved nothing better than hanging out and pestering him while he worked. The man had the patience of a saint to deal with my constant questions. ha!

My journey into knife making had its beginnings when he handed me a penknife as a kid. That knife sparked a lifelong interest and I have been making or attempting to make at least, the best knives I can ever since.

I tend to make a wide variety of styles and types of knives, as I like to challenge myself to learn different techniques, to constantly improve my skillset. I do not think I’ll ever stop learning, it’s half the fun.

I use a wide range of stainless, high carbon and laminated steels. Handle materials are sourced worldwide and range from stabilized exotic woods to composite materials, to everything in-between.

Each knife is made by myself, I take great pride in my work. The aim is to make a tool that not only serves its purpose well but are also beautiful to look at and a joy to use.

Thank you,

Chris Meade.
